The Twerton & Whiteway Community Network is made up of local residents, groups and organisations who want to:
– support people’s ongoing work in the community
– make spaces for people to come together and talk about their neighbourhood
– link organisations based in the area to best serve the community
– represent our neighbourhoods in the wider city
As a resident you are automatically a member of TWCN. What do you want to see different in one year, five years’ time?
Get in touch"Voices should be heard. Trust and confidence are issues and we need to change this."
Be part of the Network to help create a space for community voices. There will be news sharing, events, conversation and access to support for your ideas. Let's make this area even stronger and better.
Get in touchTWCN (Twerton and Whiteway Community Network) started as a group of local organisations and residents who came together in 2020 in order to find ways to support their local community.
The COVID-19 pandemic hit shortly after the first meeting, so conversations continued online, and the network began working together to identify where support was needed and how best to offer it.
The response to the lockdown from ordinary people showed the strength that is undeniably always there, underpinning everyday life.
Like other community initiatives created during that time, TWCN has kept going and growing, alongside the incredible community spirit shown across the neighbourhood and beyond.
With the support of a 5 year National Lottery grant, the TWCN has now employed two local people, Kate and Sally, as part-time coordinators who will work to achieve the aims above. You can read more about them and how to contact them here.
TWCN wants to change the pattern of funding being sucked up by outside service providers, or short-term projects being a ‘flash in the pan’ and then gone. We hope to build strength within the communities of Twerton and Whiteway, and to ensure long-term connections are created.
