Twerton Flower Show and Fun Day

Join the revival of the Twerton Flower Show, with a fun day of free activities for the community

Event Date: June 14, 2025

Local Artist Diana Ahmed, in collaboration with other locals and the twerton & Whiteway Community Network, are reviving the historic twerton flower show!

This annual event used to take place in the grounds of Wood House in the 1800-1900s.

In reviving this tradition, the hope is to bring people together to celebrate twerton’s heritage and enduring community spirit.

The organising team is made up of local residents with support from the Twerton and Whiteway Community Network, Bath City FC Foundation, Achieve Together, First Steps, Blooming WhitewaySouthside Family Project, From the Land, BathScape, and Bath City Farm.

Activities will include:

12pm:

Community picnic (bring your own food & blanket)

1-4pm:

Face Painting

Ice Cream Van

Bouncy Castle

Kids Karaoke

Craft Activities

Potato Racing

Snail Puppet Show

Tea & Cake from Southside Family Project

Football with Bath City Foundation

&

Competition Schedules:

Calling all gardeners, growers and flower lovers! Bring your entries to the marquee by 11am for judging on the day

Categories: Under 10s, 10-16, Adults

1) ‘Flower Power’

A floral exhibit to represent Flower Power, any containers, accessories & mechanics may be used but fresh flowers & foliage to predominate.

2) ‘Our Community’

A floral arrangement to depict a social or community group in Twerton or Whiteway such as a lunch club, art & craft group, youth group, baby & toddler group, music or sports club etc. Any containers & accessories may be used along with fresh and/or dried flowers & foliage. The name of the community group must feature.

3) ‘Vintage Vogue’

A floral arrangement in a vintage container such as a cup & saucer, tea pot, jug, bowl or vase. Fresh and/or dried flowers & foliage may be used.

4) ‘Foraged Foliage’

A design using ONLY foraged foliage/greenery. Any container & accessories may be used but must not dominate. No flowers either fresh or dried can be used.

5) ‘Waste Not, Want Not’

A floral arrangement in a recycled container e.g. tin can, plastic drink bottle, jam jar, juice carton. Fresh flowers & foliage are to be used.

6) Vegetable/Fruit Art

Make either an animal or an insect out of vegetables and/or fruit. The use of joining materials & accessories is allowed e.g cocktail sticks, pipe cleaners, stick on eyes etc

7) Mini Garden

Make a mini garden or allotment in a tray e.g takeaway container, plastic or aluminium food tray, seed tray etc. Maximum size standard seed tray.

8) Scarecrow Competition

Design a scarecrow – any materials may be used but must focus on the theme ‘Flower Power

9) Pimp my Wheelbarrow

Decorate a wheelbarrow to give it the ‘wow-factor’. Any materials may be used.

10) Fancy dress

Come along in flower and insect-themed fancy dress to celebrate ‘Flower Power’.
